What is orthodontics?
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that straightens teeth and corrects how the upper and lower jaws meet. Braces or clear aligners apply gentle, steady pressure that moves teeth into better positions over months. Retainers then hold them there.
Straight teeth are easier to clean, so they're less prone to decay and gum disease, and a corrected bite wears the teeth more evenly. Treatment works at almost any age. Children benefit from an early check around age 7, while teens and adults choose from metal braces, tooth-coloured ceramic braces or near-invisible clear aligners.

Gaps between teeth

How much do braces cost in Jaipur?
The cost depends on the type — metal braces cost the least, ceramic braces more, and clear aligners more again — and on how complex your case is and how long treatment takes. After a ₹300 consultation and X-rays, you get a written cost before treatment starts.
Which is better: braces or clear aligners?
Both work well for most cases. Metal braces suit all cases and cost the least; ceramic braces are tooth-coloured and less noticeable; clear aligners are nearly invisible and removable but must be worn about 22 hours a day. Complex bite problems are sometimes better treated with braces.
How long does orthodontic treatment take?
Most cases take 12–24 months. Small corrections can be quicker, and complex bite corrections can take longer. You get an estimated timeline in your written treatment plan.
Am I too old for braces?
No. Teeth can be moved at any age as long as the gums and bone are healthy. Many adults choose ceramic braces or clear aligners because they're less visible. Dr. Gauri, a gum specialist, checks gum health before and during treatment.
At what age should my child be checked for braces?
Around age 7, when the first adult teeth come in. Most braces start between 10 and 14, but an early check can spot crowding, crossbites or thumb-sucking habits that are easier to correct while the jaw is still growing.
